Founded by Roger & George Chamberlain, the Grant name has been in the forefront of specialised civil engineering for 20 years. Based in Penrith, Cumbria, Grant Ltd have undertaken projects as far afield as Rainham, Essex and Wick in the north of Scotland.
We have a solid reputation through our small dedicated workforce in delivering, cost effective and on-time projects. Chiefly working as sub-contractors we specialise in deep excavation, ground support and renewable energy schemes. The family run business also has a variety of commercial premises and yard space to let and facilities for the disposal of innert waste in the Penrith area.
We run a fleet of 30 tonne excavators and earth moving equipment and a variety of specialised attachments such as vibro pile hammers, rock wheels, rock hammers and compacters.
All equipment is fully serviced and maintained and regularly tested in line with LOLER and PUWER 1998.
We specialise in deep excavations to 8m, vibro sheet piling, forming coffer dams and excavations in soils, rock and rivers.
We install high and low pressure pipelines for hydro electric schemes, and gravity pipelines typically up to 2m diameter.
We have facilities at our own construction site at Blencowe Quarry, Penrith, just off the M6, to receive quantities of inert waste such as soils and construction arisings under an Environmental Permit exemption.
We are regular installers of penstock pipelines up to 35 bar pressure in a variety of materials serving new and existing hydro electric schemes for clients such as RWE Npower Renewables Ltd
We have buildings and yard space in the Penrith area to let on short term, easy in-easy out arrangements.
